You’re very welcome to Trans Film Fest Stockholm 2017 in collaboration with ABF Stockholm & with support from Kulturstöd Stockholms stad, RFSL Stockholm, RFSU Stockholm, Biocafé Tellus, Skärholmen Kulturhuset Stadsteatern & Majority Design och Kommunikation.

After months of planning, we would like to share some further information about the 3rd Edition of TFFS, which will take place in Stockholm from 17-19 November.

With thanks to our generous funders & community supporters, we are very pleased to announce that all of our screenings & events will be free of charge.

pups* You’ve Got Tail, 5 mins, USA, 2016, Danny Tayara  A mail carrier is in for a salty surprise! The pups at this house are a little friendlier than he was expecting…

* Spermwhore, 12 mins, Sweden, 2016, Anna Linder  A queer experimental film about unwanted childlessness in a world where normative heterosexual relationships dictate who can become parents & in what way. When it comes to reproduction our merciless bodies reduce us to merely a set sex or given gender. But the longing for children is not limited to our bodies, & the possibility of pregnancy can be gifted, shared & undertaken together.

ROSIE_STILL* Mezzo, 14 mins, USA, 2015, Nicole Opper  Mezzo celebrates the life & artistic endeavours of Breanna Sinclaire, an African American opera singer & openly trans woman, while reflecting back on memories of her childhood self-discovery.

MUXE* Muxes, 10 mins, USA, 2016, Ivan Olita (Spanish with English subtitles)  In the southern Mexican state of Oaxaca, in the indigenous communities around the town of Juchitán, the world is not divided simply into males & females. The local Zapotec people have made room for a third category, which they call “muxes”.

IKYA,BWAI? Image* I Know You Are, But What Am I?, 18 mins, Bosnia & Herzegovina, 2016, Nadja Sinic (Bosnian with English subtitles)  We are introduced to a young trans person called Chris. The way the camera follows Chris through the surroundings implies a very personal testimony. He tries to express himself by using art as a medium which is the focal point of the movie.

* Libertad, 9 mins, USA, 2016, Brenda Avila-Hanna  Libertad is a transnational tale of solidarity & a look at the pivotal role allies played along Alejandra’s journey to claim her place in the universe as she continues to help others find themselves.

gizelle* More Than T, 54 mins, USA, 2017, Silas Howard  Beyond the headlines & debates about gender rights, witness the multidimensional lives of seven transgender & gender nonconforming individuals as told through the lens of celebrated film maker, Silas Howard.

caisa_viksten_a_portrait_of_pussy* Caisa Viksten: Portrait of a Pussy, 8 mins, Sweden, 2016, Gustaf Lundh (Swedish with English subtitles)  This film is a portrait of Caisa & raises questions, thoughts & feelings about identity, sex, gender, obsession, human rights & what it is to be yourself.

2016-06-03 (28)* Pieptiș (Abreast), 11 mins, Romania, 2016, Patrick Brăila (Romanian with English subtitles)  Two souls walk abreast along the road that links a grandmother’s birthday with a grandfather’s grave. Down the narrow road that forces them to interact, a change takes place as the mother-daughter relationship morphs into a rocky new mother-son tie.

DSC01641* Mum, 13 mins, UK, 2016, Anne-Marie O’Connor  Mum is a film with a trans character at the heart of it, telling a universal story. When Kate goes back to see her mother after a few years away she realises that, far from being ready for a day out, her mum is gravely ill. And no one thought to tell her. So, she takes matters into her own hands & although she doesn’t get the day she wanted, she gets the day she needed.

Lady Eva at Pageant_* Lady Eva, 11 mins, USA & Tonga, 2017, Dean Hamer & Joe Wilson (English subtitles)  A brave young transgender woman sets off on a journey to become her true self in the Pacific Island Kingdom of Tonga – with a little inspiration from Tina Turner along the way.

Torrey Pines Still1_Credit Clyde Petersen* Torrey Pines, 60 mins, USA, 2016, Clyde Petersen  Torrey Pines is a stop-motion animated feature film based on a true story. The film is a queer punk coming-of-age tale, taking place in Southern California in the early 1990s. Raised by a schizophrenic single mother, Petersen’s life story unfolds in a series of baffling & hallucinated events. With a mother fuelled by hallucinations of political conspiracy & family dysfunction, 12-year-old Petersen is taken on a cross-country adventure that will forever alter the family as they know it.

* Free CeCe!, 87 mins, USA, 2016, Jacqueline Gares  This film confronts the culture of violence surrounding trans women of colour. It is told through the voices of Laverne Cox and CeCe McDonald.
